After earning his BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol, where he gained hands-on experience with core molecular biology research skills and techniques, Azmat is currently pursuing a Master of Biotechnology at the University of Western Australia, focusing on synthetic biology. Eager to become a genetic engineer, Azmat joined the Fritz Lab and is currently working alongside Benjamin on the domestication of Vibrio natriegens, aiming to develop it into a dependable host for rapid and low-cost cloning.
